It was a cold and windy day that welcomed a reduced field to National Boulevard due to a very discouraging forecast and the decision to shorten each race by 10 minutes proved to be the right one with A grade finishing just before the rain started.
With smaller numbers most grades rode together with B grade being the notable exception where a 3 person breakaway left the bunch in the final part of the race. Kon made a valiant attempt to bridge across but was not able to make the catch and the 3 escapees took all places on the podium.
The 37 km/h headwind up the final straight tested all riders as they sprinted for the line with only seconds, or fractions of seconds, separating riders.
Next week we hold our first handicap in honour of these officials who make our racing possible week after week, all year round, and entries are now open: https://entryboss.cc/races/31154
