Northern Cycling Criteriums at National Boulevard on Sunday 2nd August 2026

posted in: Latest News

It was a near perfect day for winter crit racing at National Boulevard apart from perhaps the stiff Northerly into the riders faces heading up the back straight to the start/finish line.

In A grade late registrant Tom Tyler King from Coburg CC got away on the last lap to win comfortably ahead of the sprinters emerging from the bunch headed by Luke Markof and Luke Poyser who edged out serial podium getter Scott Gregory.

It was a group of 3 in B grade that broke clear around the 15th lap and maintained the gap before a stretched out run to the line where Colin Blackley took out a well deserved win over consistent place getter Glen Wright and then Kon Papakonstantinou. From the chasing bunch about 30 seconds back it was Hayley Eynaud from Hawthorn CC who produced an impressive sprint to comfortably take out 4th place / 1st unplaced lady.

C grade was also won by a breakaway of 3 riders with Jamie Sharp taking out the strung out sprint ahead of Richard McCorkell and John Mitisinikos.

Special thanks as usual to all the volunteers and officials for the days races and congrats to todays winners and place getters.
