Northern Cycling Criterium - Yarra Blvd Teardrop 14th April 2024

On a slightly chilly cloudy morning just over 40 riders made the trip to the Yarra boulevard ‘teardrop’ circuit for a change up to the normal crit racing at National Boulevard. Interestingly a couple of riders accidentally decided to visit National Boulevard en route thinking racing was there (ER and JH) before rushing over to make the start line here.

B grade (16 riders) followed by C grade (12 riders) made up the largest grades for todays racing which was slightly down for A grade in particular due to clashes with another other clubs championship races.

It was also great to have a number of women racing today ( Kathyrn, Phoebe, Raelene & Sally) with Kathryn and Phoebe taking out 2nd places in C and D grade respectively.

Todays racing also featured a split start with C,D & E grade going off first just after 9:00 am and A and B grades around 9:45 . Unfortunately there was no electronic MyLaps timing today due to Bruce and Faye being on holidays however the club is taking steps to have others able to take over in the future when needed.

Many thanks to todays volunteers David Halliday, Simon , Bill Sheriffs and even President Vince Sinni who arrived well before proceedings and then selflessly finished his D grade race early to man the rego table for later grades.

Due to the split starts and the regular photographer taking part in B grade there was no podium photos for C, D and E grade today however there was some race finishes captured for A, C and D grade.

Next Sunday is back at National Boulevard where the timing will be going and then the following Thursday on Anzac Day it’s the Benghazi Handicap (https://entryboss.cc/races/18889) which currently has 82 riders and will take entries until capacity is reached (~100) so get your entries in soon if you don’t want to miss out.
