Northern Cycling Criterium at National Boulevard – Sunday 8/9/24

posted in: Latest News
A back straight North Westerly headwind greeted just under 50 riders for todays racing in mild conditions at National Boulevard.
There were plenty of attacks and break aways attempts across most grades in todays racing with some strung out finishes or breaks caught in the final moments as in the case of B grade with Agostino Giramondo and Michael Kanizay run down by visitor Chris Kennet with a strong sprint to the line.

Tim Anderson put in a long range attack from just before the final corner to take his first A grade podium and win from a fast closing Scott Gregory and Shayne Kirby. Angelo Pagano broke clear from a 5 man breakaway in C grade to take the win comfortably from Gavin Gardiner, Jamie Sharp, John Mitsinikos and Rob Moore.

The usual thanks to all those who volunteer and work behind the scenes to enable these races to run in a safe and organised fashion. Well done also to club vice president Tim Anderson for running the presentations in Vinces absence and reserving the final envelope for himself as the A grade winner.

Congratulations to todays winners and place getters.

Next week is a graded scratch race at Kinglake which for those that haven’t been before is an out and back relatively flat course. Entry is now open and available here : https://entryboss.cc/races/21132
It takes a lot of effort by people like Albert Rain obtaining permits for these types of events so please consider supporting these away races where possible.
