Northern Cycling Criterium 4/8/24 & Tour de Metro Update

It was back to National Boulevard  after a couple of recent weather cancellations however the cool, windless conditions under clear skies today were ideal for crit racing.

B grade featured  multiple breakaway attempts in a surgy race however a strong breakaway by Kon Papakonstantinou on lap 17 of 20  managed to stay away and take the win by 15 seconds from the rest of the bunch of 12.

It was also great to see 2 of our ladies take wins in C and D grade with Phoebe Symes taking the win in a strong C grade with the largest field of the day and Kaz McMurray backing up recent success in a healthy D grade with another win.

In a smaller than usual A grade field Daniel Bucknall managed to come out on top by a few bike lengths with the remainder finishing in a close bunch sprint finish.

Tour de Metro Update

Next week is back at National Boulevard for the rescheduled 3rd race of the Tour de Metro Northern v Eastern series after recent rain forced cancellations.

The current points situation is 69 Eastern to Northern 42 with 2 Northern races to come so don’t forget to get your entries in to get Northern back in front on home turf https://entryboss.cc/races/21566
