Congratulations to all the Northern club members who made their way out to Glenaroua Broadford to support this years annual 65km Northern club championship, secret handicap and age championship.
From the mass start the first few climbs thinned the main bunch to around half of the original 28 riders inside 10kms and from there the bunch largely stayed together for the remainder of the race with Michael Kanizay, Craig Harvey, Tim Anderson (last years champion), Mark Edele and few others driving the bunch and launching the odd attack to try and wear down the sprinters. At about 5km to go Tommy McDonough launched an attack that was eventually brought back with ~1km to go and from there a sprint finish ensued with Avi Kassman leading out eventual winner Luke Poyser with Mark Edele and Morgan Belbruno not far behind in 2nd and 3rd place.
The lady’s winner was defending champion Stephanie Young who backed up last years effort despite not being 100% on the day.
