A field of just under 50 riders competed in grades A(8), B(15), C(13), D(5) & F(6) under clear skies and mild conditions in contrast to last weeks cooler day.
It was a back straight finish today into a strong Northerly that made for a hard run to the line for todays riders
In A grade the field was a strung out finish with the top 3 place getters several bike lengths apart as they crossed the line with Scott Gregory taking a comfortable win over Simon Bone and Matt Carmichael.
In B grade Luke Poyser dropped a watt bomb and powered away in the sprint to win by a bike length from a fast finishing Nick Nomikos with podium regular Emilio Romano close behind in 3rd. The second win in a row for Luke in B means he will be rewarded with a promotion to A grade for his next race.
In C grade Craig Frost launched a solo effort on the 2nd lap and was soon joined after a couple of laps by Raelene Lesniowska and David Malady before Micheal Hartman, David Rooke and Frank Crifo bridged across and began to work together to stay away from the rest of C grade. In the sprint to line through B grade traffic just past the turn Craig emerged to take out the sprint.
D grade saw ever green Northern Cycling member George Goodrope take out the breakaway finish comfortably by around half a minute to Ken Bone and Nickolas Bird who had close battle for 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Northern regulars Shane Dwyer, David Drew and Ian Bishop rounded out the top 3 places respectively in F grade in a bunch finish.
Thanks to all the helpers and officials that ensured todays race ran smoothly ie Bruce Logan (Timing), Faye Logan (Rego table), David Halliday (Setup / Van) , David Brown (Commissaire/ Course inspection), Michael Sinni – main corner marshal , David Cecchini ‘Chooka’ Flag duty

Presentations were looked after by club Vice President Tim Anderson whilst Vince is overseas for the next couple of months. At the start of the presentations Tim sadly announced that our regular first aider Bill Sherrifs unfortunately passed away whilst travelling on route to QLD for holidays during the week. Bill was a fantastic club man that looked after Northerns First Aid and setup duties for many years and will be sadly missed by Northern and all who knew him. If anyone has contacts details for his family please reach out to us via messenger.
Next week we’re back at National Boulevard and the long range forecast is good for the first day of winter so please get your entries in early here (https://entryboss.cc/races/23581) and please avoid hitting us up on messenger for a late entry after the 11 pm Fri deadline that creates extra work for our handicapper Bruce and the need to bring cash on the day.
