Mothers Day Women’s Crit Races at National Boulevard on 11th May 2025

posted in: Latest News

On a spectacular sunny Autumn morning Northern Cycling hosted their first ever Women’s only series of crit races where around 20 riders battled it out across grades A, B and C.

These kicked off at 8:30 prior to the start of the regular races under the control of race commissaire Albert Rain who took the ladies through the pre race briefing with race timing under the control of Bruce Logan.

The racing was competitive with A & B grade bunches staying together for sprint finishes and C grade with 2 riders finishing clear of the rest of the field.

Following the racing the ladies were presented with their medals and envelopes by Northern President Vince Sinni who championed this event to promote increased Women participation at Northern. The consensus from those who competed was that the event was a great success.

Thanks to all the officials, volunteers & marshals who turned up early to get these races going such as Bruce,Faye, Rae, Albert, Dave B & H, Chooka, Bill, Ron & Gerard.

Well done also to the ladies that backed up after their race to jump into the regular crits that followed.
