Italian vintage bikes scoop the pool

posted in: Latest News

Classic Italian steel bikes dominated both the racing and display categories of our annual Father’s Day Vintage Steel Bike Race and Show at National Boulevard.

A total of 28 vintage bikes were either raced or displayed with the Italian classics taking the top places in both categories.

John Short won the best steel bike raced on the day on his Fausto Coppi that he brought back from Italy. President Vince took out second place with his Colnago and Emilio Romano came third riding Vince’s Saronni – another Italian import.

In the best steel bike displayed on the day, our own Chooka won with his red Paletti with original components, Peter Mazzarella’s Colnago second place and a classic white Pinarello restored by Ian Hall of Sunbury came third. Thanks to our judge Neville Smith and to everyone who got into the spirit of today’s event which raised funds from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
