A mild morning with a light breeze greeted the riders that entered todays handicap which kicked off outside the Seymour race club for the 53km out and back course that featured a few steep pinches and climbs that tested out the 8 bunches.
Scratch with a collection of earlier bunches caught up with the leading riders with around 2km to go and from there it was a large bunch sprint to the line with Stephen Kilpatrick (scratch) continuing his good form from fastest time at Chooka’s handicap to take out the win and hence also fastest time yet again. Leading sprinters Luke Poyser (3:30) and Luke Markof (5:30) emerged from there to take 2nd & 3rd place very narrowly by 7/1000 seconds ahead of Emilio Romano (scratch) in 4th.
Special thanks goes out to Ross Clark who stepped up and scratched to take on the first aid duties for todays race. Big thanks also to regular officials and helpers who arrived early to set everything up, inspect the course etc namely Albert Rain (race organiser/permits/commissaire), Bruce (handicapping/timing) & Faye Logan (rego). Dave Halliday (Van/setup) and Paul Wilson (regular corner marshal).
Next week is the secret handicap / club championships at Glenaroua Broadford and we are still short of volunteer positions (drivers, corner marshals & first aid) so please consider stepping up and helping out the club if you are due for picking up a role. https://signup.com/…/invitat…/secure/3815424023/false…
