Chooka’s Wheelrace Handicap at Glenaroua Broadford on Sunday 30th August

posted in: Latest News

It was a cool & cloudy Sunday start that opened out to a mild sunny winters morning for the ~30 riders for todays handicap of 5 laps of Schoolhouse hill which equated to a little over 60km’s all up.

It was a bunch comprising mostly of elements of the scratch, 2 min, 3:30min and 8min groups that had swept up all the preceding bunches by the start of the last lap and powered on to collect most of the top placings.

At the finish it was 2023 club champion Aaron Christiansen (scratch) ahead of club president & 2024 club champion Tim Anderson (2 min) followed by Emilio Romano (2 min) that took out the top 3 places.

Overall the consensus was it was great morning of racing for all the riders that competed today so thank you to all members who supported this event by entering as it takes a lot of organising and planning to get these events into our racing calendar.

Special shout outs for our regular officials and helpers for this event ie Bruce, Faye, Albert, David, Paul and of course Chooka himself.

Massive thanks to the members that travelled to Glenaroua to volunteer for marshalling duty ie Dennis Hosking, Colin Morris, Paul Wilson and Kon Kakris. Special mention as well to Sebastian Slezak for organising his daughter to take on the first aid role. The club is extremely grateful to have members willing to travel and sacrifice their time to help out their fellow club members.

Congratulations to the days winners and place getters:

1st & Fastest Time – Aaron Christiansen (scratch)
2nd – Tim Anderson (2 min)
3rd – Emilio Romano (2 min)
4th – Garry Clively (3:30 min)
