Kym wins the 40th Benghazi Handicap

posted in: Latest News

Congratulations to Kym Peterson from Eastern Cycling Club who won this year’s Top Tech Panels 40th anniversary of the Benghazi 77km Open Handicap at Lancefield on Anzac Day – the biggest race on the veterans calendar.

Second place went to our new member Tim Anderson, third was Roger McMillan from Eureka and fastest time was taken out by Tim Bennett from GSC. Kym, Tim and Roger and the majority of the top 10 finishers were in the 30 minute bunch. A shout out to Northern’s Greg Foster who placed 5th, Secretary Tony Gherxi 6th, Stephen Saunders 8th, Terry Duggan 12th and sponsor Nick Nomikos from Top Tech Panels finished in 13th place.

Well done to all riders who raced in the ANZAC spirit on this tough course and thanks to the VCV and other Victorian clubs for showing their support for this terrific annual event. Thank you to all our officials and volunteers who made this race possible and assisted with catering and other important tasks on the day.

The day was capped off with the cutting of a cake to mark the 40th anniversary of the Benghazi handicap/
