Eastern wins the Dave Ryan Memorial

posted in: Latest News

Eastern Veterans has secured the Dave Ryan Memorial Trophy for the first time in its four-year history by defeating Northern 85 points to 77 at the annual graded scratch races held in Dave’s memory at National Boulevard.

There was a great turnout from both clubs with more than 110 riders ensuring strong fields across all grades. Northern riders finished in the placings in most grades with Michael Borowski 2nd and Darren Roberts 3rd in A grade behind Eastern’s Chris Hughson; the Cycle House trio of Daniel Tarquinio, Simon Romano and Troy Morgan made it 1, 2 and 3 in B grade; Frank Crifo 3rd in C grade; Terry Duggan 3rd in D grade; and Allison Watt 2nd and Bob Miller 3rd in F grade.

In lieu of prize money, race entries were donated to the John Logan Foundation in Dave’s memory, raising more than $1500. It was a terrific day of racing for a great cause – thanks to all officials, volunteers and riders for making it possible. Eastern will host this race next year.
